drug and alcohol abuse problems going out for a night on the town. Let me assure you there is no desire to even use drugs or alcohol whilst on a trip out, firstly because we are representing the City of London Drug Action Team and don't want to embarrass them, and secondly I have found that a good night can be had by all without Drugs or Alcohol. Some of the evenings that I have experienced with the Service Users Group have been purely unforgettable and thats just my experience, and I am not for a second speaking on behalf of the other service users. Personally I have been to the theater twice and on a day trip to south end for the day. All well worth it and memory's that are positive and good in the aid to recovery. The group Normally decides to do something about every two months, due to funding and place availability. The next outing or day out ,is in the pipe line and is to be held in a month or so ,and from the group consensus last time I went to the group we are planing to go, Go-Karting and were just waiting for it to warm up a little bit before undertaking this activity ,if you think you can come up with a idea nothing is to to silly and all surgestions will be taken in to acccount. Watch this space for other service users opinions about the recent outings and there thoughts and for the next outing as mine alone could be construed as biased, it will be posted on this web page so everyone knows about it well in advance. so watch this space.
Im am pleased to announce that there is a day out to Chesington World of Adventures , in the pipe line and is open to the regular service users who attend the group( this is down to cost and limited spaces)
To get your name on the list make sure you attend our next meeting which is being held on the 4th April 08, and you will be double luckey as to get your name on the list for Chesington and also learn about Over dose prevention and primary care, in an over dose situation.

Training+Harm Reduction

Due to the short time that the service users have Training isn't as regulary held as would be ideal, but as a group there is some time set aside some times to receive vital training and to get some useful knowledge about, OD, Safe sex, Blood born viruses, and needle exchange are all a help to service users and available whenever the group as a whole or an individual wants or need it.

City of London Service Users Group

The City of London's Service Users Group(sug)
Introduction
Welcome to the City of London (COL) Service Users Group's (SUG) website. Recent changes in government legislation have dictated that "Service Users" should have at least some if not the majority of influence in the treatment/methods and policy (i.e. an influence regarding their own treatment in the COL and surrounding area's) but mainly for client's that live within the city's square mile, as this is where the D.A.T's jurisdiction is mostly applicable.
Though the COL SUG's is mainly affiliated with the Drug/Action/Team the group always strives to be independent in their views and objectives, towards Drug and Alcohol treatment, its always the clients needs that come first. Opinions are equally valued regardless of personal circumstance or status, to put it bluntly everyone is welcome to attend our meetings, without fear of any untoward opinions or judgements against them or to hold fear that they will be treated differently because of their situation.
The Drug/Action/Team (D.A.T) is in the Square Mile of London and has a Users Group meeting every other Friday. This lasts about an hour and is a chance for the users to get together and have a chat about the services that they are receiving and to get help in their recovery from Alcohol and Drug abuse.
For more information about Meeting Times and locations please navigate to the Meetings link.

D.A.T Services

The Arrest Referral Scheme is based at Snow hill and Bishopsgate police stations. If someone is arrested fr a "trigger offence "( where drug abuse is likley to be a conritbuting factor) they will be drug-tested by the plice and if the result is positive for class A's, they will then be assessed by an arrest referral practioner based there. the next stage is to then start (or restart) treatment or to accept some harm minimisation advice about their drug use .
